What is Shift At Midnight?
Shift At Midnight is an online co-op detective horror game developed by Bun Muen and published by Kwalee. You work the night shift at a remote gas station, stocking shelves, serving customers, and completing routine jobs while investigating whether every visitor is actually human.
Customers can be questioned, their identification checked, and their information cross-referenced on the store computer. Let a doppelganger escape and the shift can turn into survival horror, forcing you to barricade doors, deploy traps, fight monsters, or find somewhere to hide.
The game launched on July 22, 2026 for PC via Steam and on Xbox Series X|S, with Xbox Play Anywhere, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Game Pass Ultimate support. English-language Steam reviews currently sit at 94% positive.
Where should new players start?
Start with the beginner guide for first-shift basics, then read the doppelganger detection guide — screening customers correctly is the skill the whole game is built on.
The walkthrough explains how the 13 procedurally generated shifts fit together, and the endings page covers what is confirmed about the different endings without inventing requirements.
Once creatures start appearing, the monsters and traps pages collect verified survival information.

Official sources
There is no official wiki operated by the developer or publisher in the supplied research. Official information comes from the Steam store page, the Xbox store page, the Bun Muen website, the Kwalee Gaming YouTube channel, the official Discord server, and the Steam Community Hub where update announcements are posted.
Store pages take priority for release date, platforms, and availability. Update announcements on Steam are the source for patch content such as 6-player lobbies, the Rakes creature, and the second purchasable firearm.
How uncertainty is handled
Facts supported by official storefronts or dated update announcements are written plainly. Details that could not be confirmed against those sources are marked Pending confirmation instead of being guessed.
This matters most for per-shift event details, exact doppelganger tells, individual achievement conditions, ending names and counts, and future content. Live review percentages and player counts also change over time and are always tied to a research date.
