How many nights are in Shift At Midnight?

Story Mode contains 13 shifts. This is confirmed by the official Steam listing, which also states that the shifts are procedurally generated.

Procedural generation is the important part for any night guide: the order and detail of encounters change between runs, so a strict "night 1 does X, night 2 does Y" script does not exist the way it would in a linear horror game.

What stays the same every night

Even with procedural encounters, the skeleton of a shift is stable:

• Store work. Stocking shelves, handling deliveries, and serving customers keep the station running.
• Customer screening. Question visitors, check IDs, cross-reference the store computer, and watch behavior.
• The judgment call. Decide who is human and who is a doppelganger.
• Escalation. A wrong call can flip the night into barricade-trap-fight-or-hide survival.

What changes between runs

Because shifts are procedurally generated, the specific customers, encounter order, and incident timing vary. Two players comparing "night 5" may have seen different visitors. Any guide claiming a fixed sequence of events for a specific night number should be treated with caution.

Per-night event lists, named customers tied to specific shifts, and fixed story beats are Pending confirmation until complete playthrough material can be checked.

Nights in co-op

The 13-shift structure is the same in online co-op. The game is designed for 1–3 players, and the July 23, 2026 update opened lobbies of up to 6. With more players, store tasks and screening can be split across the team.

After the 13th night

Finishing the story is not the end of the game. Endless Mode exists as a separate way to keep playing, received adjustments in the July 29, 2026 update, and is slated for a major free content update in Q4 2026.
